Ingredients for burger
- 4 8 oz. burger patties
- 4 whole wheat buns
- Mushrooms, sliced and sautéed
- Lettuce
- Cheddar cheese
- Garlic herb aioli

- 1 ½ c. mayonnaise
- ¼ c. fresh herbs of your choice, finely chopped (basil, cilantro, parsley, tarragon, or cilantro)
- 2 Tbsp minced garlic
- Pinch of kosher salt
Caramelized onions
- Two large onions
- Olive oil
- Butter
- Salt
Steps for garlic herb aioli
- Place minced garlic in a bowl.
- Sprinkle with salt.
- Add mayonnaise and herbs.
- Stir and serve!
Steps for caramelized onions
- Thinly slice the onions, lengthwise.
- Heat the olive oil or butter/olive oil combo at medium high and add onions.
- Reduce heat to medium or medium-low so onions don’t burn.
- Lightly sprinkle onions with salt.
- Stir to coat onions with oil and let cook, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes or so, until onions are golden brown.
Steps for burger
- Liberally salt and pepper the burger patties, before grilling to temp.
- Melt cheddar cheese over burgers.
- Toast buns on the grill to lightly brown.
- Place buns on a plate and apply garlic herb aioli to both sides of the buns.
- Place burger on bottom bun.
- Top with sautéed mushrooms, a slice of tomato, and lettuce leaf.
