Nick’s Favorite Turkey Burger

June 17th, 2024

Grilling season is officially underway! If you’re looking for a lighter take on your classic burger, check out Nick’s Favorite Turkey Burger—brought to you by Nick, our hospitality and facilities manager in Woodstock.

We highly recommend our locally raised ground turkey from Misty Knoll Farms in New Haven, Vermont.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground turkey (ground chicken is also delicious)
  • 8 oz. shredded melty cheese (I like Spring Brook Farm Reading Raclette)
  • ¾ c. grated zucchini
  • 2 Tbsp. minced yellow onion
  • 2 Tbsp. ketchup or BBQ sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tsp. each of salt and pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. organic canola oil
  • 4 burger buns
  • Your favorite burger toppings: tomato slices, avocado, red onion, pickles, lettuce, mayonnaise

Steps to make burger

  1. In a large bowl, place ground turkey or chicken and add zucchini, onion, ketchup, Worcestershire, garlic, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine everything.
  2. Lightly coat your hands in oil and form the mixture into 4 patties. They will seem quite moist at this point. Place in the refrigerator on a plate for 15 minutes to let them firm up a little.
  3. Heat the canola oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties until browned on one side (5-6 minutes). Flip and repeat on the other side until cooked through (~165˚F internal temp).
  4. Place burgers on buns and top with things you love to eat!
