Crispy Baked Tofu Recipe

February 3rd, 2026

Tofu is a versatile ingredient because it takes on the flavors of the ingredients around it! However, if you had a poor experience the first time you tried it, you might think of tofu as bland with an unappealing texture. That’s why it’s so important to properly marinate this nutrient-dense food! This easy recipe makes snackable, crispy tofu cubes that you’ll want to add to every dish.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Drain and press tofu. Open tofu package and pour out water. Gently press tofu to drain excess water. Then, slice into three slabs. Wrap tofu in a clean kitchen towel and place on a rimmed baking sheet. Set a heavy cutting board or cast-iron skillet on top of wrapped tofu. Pressing the tofu in this way will help it drain. Add additional objects such as canned tomatoes if you need more weight. Let the tofu drain for 30 minutes.
  2. While tofu is resting, pre-heat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover another large sheet pan with parchment paper.
  3. Once tofu is drained, slice tofu into ¾-inch cubes. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
  4. Drizzle cubed tofu with olive oil and tamari/soy sauce. Gently mix until all pieces are covered. Then add the cornstarch. Toss to combine, ensuring all pieces are thoroughly coated.
  5. Arrange tofu in a single layer on parchment paper-covered baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes. Flip the tofu and bake for 10-15 minutes more or until golden.
  6. Add crispy tofu to your favorite recipes!
