Hi everyone.
We hope you’re enjoying these late-summer days. It has been another incredibly busy week at our Woodstock location, with shelving going up and grocery items moving in. Since Patrick is taking some much-needed and deserved vacation time, I’m sending a general update in his stead.
If you’ve driven by the store recently, you may have noticed that the shipping containers in the parking lot are slowly vanishing. Day by day, the Market is returning to its former state. Not only from a structural standpoint, but from a people standpoint, too! We’re loving seeing more and more of our team back onsite helping get their departments ready and shelves restocked.
Thank you, once again, to everyone who has donated to our Farmers’ Flood Fund, making it possible for our entire team to stay on the payroll (and off unemployment) from the day of the flood to our upcoming reopening. We’re depending on our amazing staff to get the store ready for your first visit!
On the construction front, the biggest news of the week is that our hot water heater has been hooked up, so we have hot water in the store! We’re also finishing up our department work stations so that our returning staff have a place to land upon their return. Other good news: with a quickly shrinking punch list in the store, we’ve now moved on to our bakery rebuild!
Our grocery team has been busy re-stocking the shelves, as well as making a few tweaks to our displays and layout. But don’t worry, we haven’t switched too many things around on you! The Market will look and feel the way you remember it (circa June 2023). Although we encourage lots of oohing and aahing over our new cheese case 🙂
We’d love your help spreading the word that the Market will be open again soon! Orders have already been placed (and are arriving daily) for all of your favorite fall items, from pumpkins and mums to candy corn and chocolate caramels. And, of course, apples, squashes, and the rest of the fall bounty will soon be on its way from our local farms. In the meantime, our produce team has been taking field trips to many of these farms to reconnect with our growers.
If you’re a Woodstock customer and haven’t had a chance to pop up to our Waterbury store, we encourage you to make a day trip of it! Not only will you see some familiar faces from Woodstock who have been up there helping out, you’ll find all the local produce and products you’ve been missing here in Woodstock (plus a few that are unique to Waterbury). Open Tues-Sun, 9-6.
We’ll continue to update you on our progress, but for now we’re still anticipating a mid-September reopening.
More soon!
