Prepared Foods and Bakery
We offer a selection of grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, entrees, and sides. For today’s offerings, see our Woodstock Grab-and-Go Menu or our Waterbury Grab-and-Go Menu. Our Bakehouse, located on-site at our Woodstock location, creates delicious cookies, pies, and specialty desserts on a daily basis. A selection of these treats are sent up to Waterbury a few times a week. The Bakehouse also offers custom cakes upon request (for pickup in Woodstock only).
We take our food seriously at the Woodstock Farmers’ Market. We use premium ingredients for all our prepared foods and bakery items. And what sets us apart from many other kitchens is our passion and experience: Our kitchen and deli are staffed by professionals with varied backgrounds that bring years of culinary experience to the job. Plus, we all just love great food. And we love to talk about it. So when you come in to buy, we’re thrilled to answer your questions and help you with recipes.
Along with our famous cookies, cakes, gourmet brownies, and pies, our Bakehouse specializes in “quick breads,” like our killer banana and pumpkin breads. Our bakery team believes in big flavor and pure ingredients, with no cheap fillers or shortcuts.
Our grocery department keeps a wide array of specialty and everyday groceries on our shelves. We specialize in hard-to-find, unique food products, like olive oils, marinades, chocolates, and jams from Vermont and around the world.
Make your meals something special with our wide variety of extra virgin olive oils, pastas, marinades ,and condiments. We have a passion for finding the latest and greatest from all over the world.
We also have plenty of everyday groceries as well, from fresh local eggs to Vermont milk and locally-made granola. You’ll always find new and intriguing ingredients and brands on our shelves.
We also feature a great selection of well-priced wines to round out your meal. We think of wine as food you can drink, and believe it doesn’t have to be expensive to be delicious. Our resident beer expert stocks brews for every taste, and is always on the lookout for interesting and tasty new selections.
Plus, our food-crazy staff is always on hand to show you around, find you a recipe, or help you track down a hard-to-find ingredient or product. Just ask!
Produce & Plants
Our produce department serves the absolute freshest conventional, organic, and local produce available. Both stores offer flower bouquets year-round, hanging plants in the summer, and local pumpkins and mums in the fall. Our Woodstock store is home to an extensive garden center, with hardy locally grown perennials and unique annuals in the summer, plus holiday greenery and Christmas trees in the late fall.
Produce is our backbone. We pride ourselves on obtaining the freshest and highest quality organic and conventional produce available—whether from our local farm connections or from the Boston markets. Our displays are piled up high and fresh. . . we pride ourselves on our bounty! About 70% of our produce business is local in the summer!
GARDEN CENTER (IN WOODSTOCK ONLY)
The Garden Center is staffed in the summer and fall, and during the holiday season, Tuesdays-Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In the summer, you’ll find hanging baskets, herbs, annuals, perennials, soils, mulches, and more! We carry pumpkins, mums, and ornamentals during the fall. Come late November, we bring in our first shipment of local Christmas trees, wreaths and more for all your decorating needs!
Cheeses and Deli Provisions
We carry over 50 Vermont cheeses, as well as fine cheeses from around the world, plus a plethora of provisions such as olives, roasted red peppers, pre-packaged cheeses, and dry salamis. And we slice to order fresh deli meats and cheeses (in Woodstock only). We brew robust coffee using freshly roasted beans. Along with a rotating selection of Vermont coffees, we have our own micro coffee roaster in Maine—and they ship us fresh roasted coffee beans every week with many of our offerings fair traded and organic.
Along with our selection of farmhouse artisan cheeses and hard- to-find selections from around the world, we the widest array of Vermont cheeses in either of our store locations. We also sell to-go containers of our own appetizers and deli provisions, from dry salamis to fresh olives. We slice deli meats and cheeses to order.
Our coffee selection is second to none. For the past 20 years we have partnered with a small micro-roaster in Maine who ships us exceptional selections, roasted fresh every week. We also offer a rotating selection of Vermont roasters. Stop by for the freshest, strongest coffee around. And if you really need a pick-me-up, our espresso bar in Woodstock is open all day.
Seafood & Meats (in Woodstock only)
Our seafood and meat departments are the place to find the freshest seafood north of Boston and the best hand-cut meats and all-natural poultry in the Upper Valley. We also search for local or all-natural meat suppliers whenever possible.

You bet. People drive for miles just to buy our seafood. And with so much attention on where it comes from these days, you can trust that we purchase only the freshest from wholesalers that we trust.
You’ll find everything from your typical New England staples like sustainably caught cod and grey sole to more regional catches like wild caught fresh sablefish, wild striper, sushi grade tuna, and swordfish. We have great access to the freshest wild and farm-raised shellfish—mussels, oysters, shrimp and clams. And with a day’s notice, we can get you the closest thing to a Maine lobsterfest you’ll ever find in interior New England.
Like everyone, we are concerned about over-fishing and how and where the fish we sell is caught. We only carry seafood and shellfish from authorized sustainable fisheries and we work closely with Wood Mountain Fish, Black River Produce and Earth and Sea to bring the best sustainable seafood available.
In the mood for meat?
We are the Upper Valley hot spot for exceptional quality beef, lamb and pork, and we purchase “all natural” (no antibiotics or growth hormones) whenever possible. Increasingly we focus our meat program on supporting Vermont farmers—we carry a full line of local and free-ranging poultry, local grass-fed beef, and local, all-natural pork.
