Vermont Hills Teriyaki
This is a true story. I'm in the Woodstock Ace (now Woodstock Home and Hardware) buying nails or something a few years ago and here's this marinade sitting on the counter. Yes, a food product on the counter of a hardware store. Suddenly, Larry the owner tosses me a bottle and says "You gotta try this stuff. A friend of mine makes it." You can imagine my first thoughts. (The trash perhaps?)
Now after several years and god knows how many cases of this stuff, it's one of our top selling marinades. The packaging 'aint fancy but who really cares? Bits of ginger, garlic, sesame seeds, and olive oil are mixed—not infused or blended or whipped---with a tangy tamari to create a truly incredible marinade. You can actually taste fresh ginger, garlic and all the other spices when you eat your food. It's incredible.
What's great is that you absolutely must shake it up before you use it. In this age when everyone is trying to make sure everything looks blended and fancy, it's a relief to break out a bottle of Vermont Hills, shake it down, trying to get all the garlic and ginger you can in one pour.
Another reason this product is so great is it's versatility. You can use this product on almost anything—fish, chicken, veggies and pork. Use it too, as a finishing sauce—as you pull your beautiful grilled concoction off the fire, douse Vermont Hills all over and you are sure to impress your guests with the incredible flavor. Way to go Larry at Woodstock Ace Hardware!
