WFM's own Oatmeal-raisin Cookies
To this day, our Oatmeal Raisins have a very loyal following. They remind me of Red Sox nation. They are everywhere. (Sorry baseball fans...Vermont is Red Sox country.) Even more curious, "The Oatmeal People" do speak loudly about “their cookie.” Folks call up, "are they out of the oven yet?" Or, once in the store they will proclaim, "I just drove for 30 minutes just to get a couple cookies!"
We make them with tons of oats and plump raisins and round it off with sugar, flour and Vermont butter—that’s it. No artificial anything. They are more soft than hard—we like to describe them as slightly chewy. That being said they are outstanding fresh but I must say they hold up exceptionally well over several days’ time. They dry out nicely and get slightly crumbly—perfect for dunking.
I call them the “feel-good cookie.” I love them because every time I eat one, I feel like I’m eating something that’s somehow low cal and really good for me. I mean, what’s not to love about oatmeal and raisins? But don’t be fooled. Eat half now, and save the other half for later. They run over 4 inches in diameter and are ½ inch thick. Big Boys to say the least. Sizes do vary slightly.
Ingredients: Flour, butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, oats, raisins, spices, salt. Produced in our kitchen where we do handle nut products. But these cookies do not have nuts in them.
