Hurricane Flats Ruby Red Popcorn

What makes it different?  Aside from the fact that it’s organically grown in Vermont—at the Hurricane Flats Farm in nearby South Royalton—and the kernels are as red as pomegranate seeds, it happens to be really, really good.  I mean, you don’t usually think of popcorn as being particularly flavorful on its own, but this one actually tastes like corn, and to my taste even lightly buttered corn, even right out of our air popper.  It pops up very white, in stark contrast to its dark hull, looking dramatic in a bowl.  Sprinkle it with a little sea salt, and a bit of butter if you must, and sit down in front of your latest Netflix movie.  It’ll be gone before the credits are.
